100 years and 100 stories is the legacy started by Josip Babich in 1916 when he first launched ‘Babich’ under the name ‘Babich Brothers Wines’ at just 20 years old. Flash forward to the 21st century and we have one of New Zealand’s most experienced family-owned wine producers. ‘Babich’ has been a household name and currently in its third generation of winemaking, boasting 11 vineyards all across New Zealand’s finest wine regions.
‘Babich’ has always maintained a philosophy of not wanting to compromise on the quality they can deliver to their customers. They are guided by a core value system to constantly delivering the highest of standards. Their vineyards can be found in Auckland, Hawke’s Bay and Marlborough. Babich seek out the ideal sites in these regions, and plant the grapes they know will thrive there to ensure that you get the best possible outcome. What sweethearts eh?
Today, Babich boasts one of the most impressive Portfolios in New Zealand with over 15 varietals over 8 different labels. These span from Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir all the way to the more rare Albariño, Gruner Veltliner and Viogniers.
Babich is all about respect, honour and making decisions that would positively impact the environment they grow their wines in. The culture of ‘Babich’ is one of making the best wines, not compromising on standards and always practising with the best intentions in mind. These were established by the founder over 100 years ago, and we think will be upheld for the next 100 years to come too.
