Free Wine Tasting, explore Hawke’s Bay with Vidal Estate

One of our most renowned kiwi winemakers Hugh Crichton, straight out of the Gimblett Gravels district of Hawke’s Bay, will be with us at Pop Brixton on Monday 30th September to share his passion, knowledge and secrets with us…

Since 2006, Hugh Crichton has been following the footsteps of early wine innovator Anthony Joseph Vidal, a Spanish immigrant who established Vidal Estate winery in 1905 in the free draining soils of Hawke’s Bay. His classic and elegant wine is produced using new world wine techniques inspired by the French concept of terroir…something we are most thankful for!

Vidal Estate is one of the oldest wineries in the Gimblett Gravels, also known for its sustainable wine growing practices. Hugh’s reputation has grown over the years having been awarded for his winemaking, as he continues to play off our craving with delicious wines!

His popular wines include Merlot Cabernet reds, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Viognier, Noble Semillon and more…

As always our tastings run on a first come first served basis, by signing up to this event you still need to arrive at our venue by 6pm to secure your place on our list. The list opens at 5.30pm! These tastings are casual and relaxed and we encourage you to buy a bottle (in exchange for your free tasting) as a thank you to the winery for hosting this event with us. There are plenty of street food vendors and bars at Pop Brixton (however we’d prefer you to have a drink at ours) In case you have some time to kill before your allocated session.
