Huia

Handcrafted, organic, biodynamic and made with love, Huia Vineyards are a Marlborough based winery that has been changing the New Zealand wine scene for over two decades. The vineyards were established in 1996 by Mike and Claire Allan, however, they were laying the groundwork for their own legacy for many years prior. Having both worked at a number of large New Zealand wineries (Cloudy Bay, Lawsons and Vavasour) they also garnered international experiences making Champagne at Veuve Clicquot and Taittinger - you might have heard of them.

That is the kind of experience you can’t buy, and their ability to create their own expressive, unique and bright New World wines is evident in the legacy they have established today. They were also able to bring with them the appreciation and respect for Old World styles and implement these in their practises. From its inception, until now, the health of the land and treating it with the best possible practices has been the most important factor for ‘Huia’. Being certified both Organic and Biodynamic is a true testament to the kind of environment they want to preserve and create.

The name ‘Huia’ comes from the legendary native bird the ‘Huia’, whose feathers were said to represent, elegance, wisdom and great dignity - philosophies the team and Huia strive to grow and produce wines with.

‘Huia’s wines’ speak for themselves and their portfolio showcases 8 brilliant wines that include Sparkling, Sauvignon Blanc, Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Chardonnay. Check out their Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir too.

P.S did we forget to mention that this banging producer is VEGAN? Hell yes.
