Racines Bentrock Chardonnay 2018

2018

£100.00

Availability: 24 in stock

The Bentrock Vineyard is found on the extreme, western edge of the Santa Rita Hills and this wine is composed of two distinctive parcels within it. It is a rugged and lively wine with brilliant personality, exhibiting strikingly pure notes of Meyer lemon, white flower blossom and liquidised rocks with a distinctive salty tang.

Why we love it: Notes of lemon and blossom, yum.
Drink with: White meats, sushi platter

WINE PRODUCER

Racines is a collaboration between two classic houses from France, led by vignerons Étienne de Montille and Rodolphe Péters, and Santa Barbara’s own Justin Willett, owner and winemaker at Tyler Winery.

The project is the first venture for Étienne and Rodolphe beyond France and represents the coming together of all that is wonderful about Burgundy, Champagne and California.

These wines confirm something many have long suspected: that if you are looking to make terroir driven, elegant, balanced wines in the new world, then Santa Rita Hills is the place.

WINE REGION

San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge rises to greet you at the top of our Central Coast. Over the course of the next 500 kilometers (300 miles), the weather transitions from moody to mild, which makes for excellent diversity in both wine and surf. Grapes here are among the oldest in the state, planted by Franciscan monks as they made their way north on El Camino Real (“the royal road”, now Highway 101) in the late 1700s.
