Chardonnay Wine

The Chardonnay grape first became established in Burgundy, France, it’s mostly used for white wine and sparkling wines. Chardonnay responds to both cool and warm climates which makes it more complex to understand. Cooler regions produce acidic wines that harness flavours of green plum, apple and pear. The warmer the vineyard, the more citrus you’ll find in the flavours of its wine. Hot climates tend to produce Chardonnays with tropical fruit notes. The rich, buttery styles come from grapes fermented and aged in well-used, vintage French oak barrels. Newer oak barrels presents a more vanilla mouth and the more stony, crisp Chardonnays are usually aged and vinified in stainless steel vats. Chardonnay is the all-rounder of white wines – depending on where it’s grown and how it’s aged, you can enjoy it with anything you enjoy!
