Pinot Gris Wine
Pinot Gris, also known as ‘Pinot Grigio’ or ‘Grauburgunder’, is a white wine grape with a distinctive colour. This variety originates from the Burgundy region of France and dates back to the Middle Ages, although these days it’s widely thought of as a more ‘New World’ wine. And although Pinot Grigio wines vary significantly per region, they all have low to moderate acidity and higher alcohol levels than other varieties. Fruit flavours include lemon, white nectarine and apple, some give you honeyed notes and most have a slight saline-like minerality.
Some of the best food combos for Pinot Grigio are seafood including sushi, fritto misto and light seafood pastas, salads and risottos, especially those with green vegetables such as peas and asparagus.
